Santiago: Hola Maya, how are you?

Maya: Hey, good to see you! Estoy bien. But I was sick last weekend!

S: Oh no, did you catch a cold?

M: No, I had a stomach bug or something. I had diarrhea and fever Friday night.

S: That sounds terrible. Did you see a doctor?

M: I went to the urgent care. They gave me some antibiotics.

S: That’s good. I am glad you feel better!

M: How about you? You look tired.

S: I just did not have enough sleep because of my work.

M: Make sure you take a deep breath and work out regularly. You should take care of yourself.




Illness/Enfermedad

Dolor de estómago = stomachache

Resfriado = cold

When someone is sick, what can you say? Cuando alguien está enfermo, ¿qué puedes decir?

Get well! I hope you get well soon!

Get well = ponerse bien

M: How about you? You look tired.

¿Y tú? Te ves cansado.

You look bored.

Very tired = exhausted. You look exhausted.

S: I just did not have enough sleep because of my work.

No tuve suficiente sueño debido a mi trabajo.

Insomnia

Last night, I couldn’t sleep well.

I cannot sleep very well.

I have a sleep deprivation.

sleep deprivation/la privación de sueño

light sleeper (ligero o liviando) o heavy (pesado) sleeper

A light sleeper is a person who wakes up easily. (sueno ligero)

M: Make sure you take a deep breath and work out regularly. You should take care of yourself.

Asegúrete de respirar hondo y hacer ejercicio regularmente. Deberías cuidarte.

  • Sleep deprivation (don’t sleep enough)
